Jack White Drops New Song, 'Love Interruption'

Track is from White's first solo album, Blunderbuss, due April 24.

Jack White hasn't exactly been living life outside the public eye since announcing the end of the White Stripes last year, making records with everyone from Tom Jones to the Insane Clown Posse and appearing on a (really pretty excellent) episode of "American Pickers," to name just a few of his endeavors.

And on April 24, he'll officially add "solo artist" to that résumé, with the release of Blunderbuss, the first album to bear his name — and his name only. And while we suppose the move was inevitable, according to White, he never really had any plans to go solo. In fact, Blunderbuss, the first album basically began life as a happy accident.

"I didn't really even think of recording under my own name for a long time," White told BBC Radio 1's Zane Lowe on Monday. "A few months ago, we had a session booked and someone didn't show up. So I said, 'I guess we'll do some of my songs' ... It kick-started the whole process."

In further kick-startery, White has also premiered the first song from the album, "Love Interruption" on his brand-new official site. A smoky, sumptuous mix of winsome Wurlitzer, acoustic guitar (and maybe a clarinet?), the song sees White harmonizing with Nashville singer Ruby Amanfu and lamenting over the power and promise of love. Yes, it is pretty great.

Fans can download "Interruption" now, and it will be available on 7-inch (of course) on February 7. Blunderbuss will be released through White's own Third Man Records, in conjunction with Columbia, and will reportedly feature contributions from the likes of Seasick Steve and Chris Thile, formerly of Nickel Creek.

Should Justin Bieber Remake 'Fear'? Reese Witherspoon Weighs In!

Actress talks dishes about rumors during 'MTV First: This Means War,' airing tonight at 7:56 p.m. on MTV and MTV.com!

A few weeks back, a rumor hit the Internet that Justin Bieber wanted to remake "Fear," his pal Mark Wahlberg's classic thriller. Being that Wahlberg and Bieber already have a project in the works, it wouldn't be too off base for the teen star to try his hand at the creepy film that follows a young man (Walhberg) who becomes obsessed with his teen girlfriend (Reese Witherspoon) and goes on a dangerous rampage when the romance turns sour.

Witherspoon will sit down with MTV News on Tuesday (January 31) for an exclusive interview and premiere of a previously unseen clip from her upcoming film, "This Means War." The special, "MTV First: This Means War," will air at 7:56 p.m. ET on MTV and MTV.com. And, during that chat, she has an interesting reaction to the news that her film may get a new-millennium remake. "Oh, really? Fine, great. That'd be cool. Would he be playing me, or is he playing Mark Wahlberg?" she wondered. "Is it like a girl who harasses the family, like a stalker who can't leave him alone? That would be good, right? I mean girls get crazy about him. Yeah, he's very talented." Much like
Wahlberg, Witherspoon thinks Bieber certainly does have that "it" factor. "You know, I didn't know much about him until I saw the documentary. And I thought that was really worthwhile, worth seeing and it made me think, 'What a sweetheart,' and he has a really nice connection to his family," she said. "He's been working really hard, singing on the street." Following the on-air "First" segment, Academy Award winner Witherspoon will stay for an additional 30-minute interview on MTV.com with MTV News' Josh Horowitz. Fans can be part of the action right away by submitting questions on MTV.com or via Twitter by using the @MTVNews hashtag #MTVFirst. "This Means War," the McG-directed comedy-action film, stars Witherspoon as a seductive female dating two of the world's deadliest CIA operatives (played by Chris Pine and Tom Hardy), whose partnership and friendship are put in jeopardy when they begin to battle for her affection. Instead of talking to her about the love triangle, they try to settle the matter using all of the weapons at their disposal. The film also stars one of Witherspoon's real-life pals, comedian and "Chelsea Lately" host Chelsea Handler, who gives Reese's character the terrible advice that she should continue dating both men. Can Justin Bieber tackle a "Fear" remake? Leave your comments below! Before "
" hits MTV on Tuesday at 7:56 p.m. ET, check out Reese's first-ever, totally adorable MTV interview, when she opened up in 1991 at the age of 14 about what drew her to Hollywood.
Superstars swing through the hallways of "American Idol" on a weekly basis, but on Wednesday (April 27), Lauren Alaina was greeted by one of her very own idols. Miley Cyrus surprised the finalist with an impromptu visit during her mentoring session.

With the assistance of Babyface and Jimmy Iovine, Alaina's weekly training session was running smoothly as she rehearsed her cover of Carole King's "Where You Lead." "About halfway through my meeting with Jimmy, he had a big surprise for me," Alaina gushed to viewers in a pre-taped segment on the show. "Miley Cyrus walks in. I was like [jaw drops open] ... she was so nice and she gave me such great advice." With her long curly locks and dressed in an all-black ensemble, Cyrus offered a hug to the aspiring songstress and shared a few friendly words of advice. "I listen to your music all the time. You're awesome," the "Hannah Montana" star told the 16-year-old. "The most important thing you can do is just do it for yourself because you will always have mean comments. People will always talk about you and that's never going to change." Alaina's impromptu visit from Miley seemed to have boosted her confidence for Wednesday night's performance. From those high-hitting notes to her inviting a male audience member onstage, the contestant playfully strutted, ending her performance with a chuckle. News of Cyrus' surprise appearance on "Idol" hit the Internet early Wednesday morning when E! Online reported that Iovine asked the superstar to be a mentor as a result of a remark he'd made earlier in the competition. A few weeks back, Alaina chose to sing Cyrus' hit song "The Climb," which led Iovine to tell the contestant she was "a much stronger singer than Miley Cyrus." What did you think of Miley's mentoring advice? Taylor Swift Talks Relationship 'Red Flags' In Vogue

Country star says next album is about 'absolute crash-and-burn heartbreak.'
By Jocelyn Vena

Taylor Swift on the February cover of Vogue
Photo: Vogue

After much speculation, Taylor Swift has nabbed the February cover of Vogue, donning a big-rimmed beige hat, hippie-chic clothes and fringy bangs. The singer not only opens up about her love of fashion in the article, but also goes into depth about her plans for the future, including her dreams to star in more movies and just what she has in store for her next album, which — believe it or not — will be about boys.

"There's just been this earth-shattering, not recent, but absolute crash-and-burn heartbreak," she explained about the highly anticipated follow-up to 2010's Speak Now. "And that will turn out to be what the next album is about. The only way that I can feel better about myself — pull myself out of that awful pain of losing someone — is writing songs about it to get some sort of clarity." Swift, who says she's currently happily single, goes on to say that she's learned some of the major "red flags" in relationships, which include a guy who falls too fast without actually knowing her ("You can't be in love with a Google search," she said), a guy who can't understand why she needs to have security, a guy who wants to "put her down" and a guy who needs too much privacy. While she's learning more and more about dating, she's also still trying to maneuver fame. Right now, she's at the top of her game, but she knows that that can change at any time. "This is what I've wanted to do my whole life. It never freaks me out. Never. Ever," she says. "But you know what does freak me out? When is the other shoe going to drop? I am so happy right now. So I am always living in fear. This can't be real, right? This can't really be my life. "The stakes are really high if you mess up, if you slack off and don't make a good record, if you make mistakes based on the idea that you are larger than life and you can just coast," she later says. "If you start thinking you've got it down, that's when you run into trouble — either by getting complacent or becoming mouthy. And nobody likes that."

The article makes mention that Swift has been spending more time in L.A. looking for the right movie role. Currently she's rumored to be playing Eponine in the A-list-filled big-screen adaptation of "Les Miserables." Adele is the next rumored pop cover girl for the fashion magazine. The singer appeared on the cover of October's Vogue U.K. What did you think about the February Vogue cover? Kids' Choice Awards 2011: The Show And Winners List

Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus awarded on slime-filled Nickelodeon night.
By Aly Semigran

Russell Brand and Rico Rodriguez get slimed onstage during Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards

For 23 years, Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards has been an event in which celebrities can truly let loose. After all, it's hard to have an ego when you're getting covered in green slime or being inducted into the Arm Fart Hall of Fame (we're looking at you, Josh Duhamel). Nick's 2011 awards show, which aired lived on the network Saturday from Los Angeles, kept with its tradition of stars finding themselves in some truly outrageous situations. Host Jack Black, who was at the helm for the third time (he last helped hand out those coveted orange kaleidoscope blimps in 2008), kicked things off with an over-the-top musical number. The funnyman, wearing a black leather jumpsuit with flames — the first of many quirky wardrobe changes — was joined by a group of dancers to perform his own rendition of the Black Eyed Peas' hit "I Gotta Feelin'."

Black then introduced the group, as the "Jack Black Eyed Peas," and joined them onstage for "The Time (Dirty Bit)." BEP, who later won the award for Best Music Group, then sang their next single, "Just Can't Get Enough." The first award of the evening was given out to Johnny Depp, who won Favorite Movie Actor for his performance in "Alice in Wonderland." Depp, who emerged from backstage, told the kiddie crowd and voters it was "truly a pleasure to receive this award that comes from you guys. I appreciate it." After apologizing for beating Black in the category, Depp told Nick viewers, "You guys are the future; take good care of us." The actor then proceeded to get in on the fun, sliming the group of young fans who stood at the foot of the stage. Depp's stunt led to one of the evening's most memorable — and by far, funniest — moments when "Arthur" actor Russell Brand and "Modern Family" star Rico Rodriguez appeared onstage soon after to present the award for Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie (the blimp eventually went to Eddie Murphy, who got the crowd to sing him "Happy Birthday," for his role in "Shrek Forever After"). Before Brand and Rodriguez could even begin their banter at the podium, the freshly slimed youngsters began throwing the green, gooey mess at the two stars. In response to the mayhem, Brand declared, "I'm never having children." Brand continued, as he guarded Rodriguez from the kiddie coup, "I am English! I am your leader! You must not do this, I am royalty! You are all going to juvenile hall. You children are going to prison. You are bad children!" Brand, who is voicing a character in the animated feature "Hop," cried that the moment was not in the script, then joked, "Johnny, I wished you'd drowned them." They weren't the only stars to get slimed during the broadcast. Heidi Klum, who almost took a spill thanks to her sky-high heels, got hit, as did Jason Segel, who received a slime slushie courtesy of Jane Lynch. Even Snoop Doog — who joined pop-rock group and Nick stars Big Time Rush for their song "Boyfriend" — got doused in the green stuff. As Willow Smith performed her hits "21st Century Girl" and "Whip My Hair," the 10-year-old was cheered on by her dad, Will Smith, and brother, Jaden Smith, who were in the audience. The final big award of the evening went to Miley Cyrus, who won for Favorite Movie Actress for "The Last Song." The former "Hannah Montana" star attempted to put gossip to rest during her acceptance speech as she thanked her family for supporting her career. Cyrus will no doubt get fans wondering about the status of her relationship with "Last Song" co-star and on-again, off-again beau Liam Hemsworth, whom she thanked for "helping me make movie magic" in the 2010 drama. The Big Help Award, which was presented by Rosario Dawson, went to singer/actor Justin Timberlake for his devotion to charities, particularly the work he does with Shriners Hospital for Children. In between cracking jokes about burping and getting the crowd to cheer if they had ever helped anyone, Timberlake took the time to tell his young fans, "Your heart is the most beautiful part, so don't forget to use it." In addition to telling kids they can do their part to help, even with major issues such as the crisis in Japan, the star said something bound to make any adult watching elated: "Listen to your parents!" Finally, Kourtney and Kim Kardashian hit the stage to help give away the last award of the night for Favorite TV Show, which went to the kid-friendly Nickelodeon hit "iCarly." Black kept a high energy throughout the show, including some interactions with his "Kung Fu Panda 2" character, Po, — one of which featured a cameo from Britney Spears in a pre-recorded segment. He ended the evening with a slime battle between himself and Jim Carrey, who made a surprise finale appearance. Other winners included: Favorite Female Singer

Katy Perry Favorite Male Singer

Justin Bieber Favorite Song

"Baby" - Justin Bieber Favorite Movie

"The Karate Kid" Favorite Animated Movie

"Despicable Me" Favorite Reality Show

"American Idol" Favorite TV Actress

Selena Gomez Favorite TV Actor

Dylan Sprouse Favorite Book

"Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series Favorite Cartoon

"Spongebob Square Pants" Favorite Male Athlete

Shaquille O'Neal Favorite Female Athlete

Lindsey Vonn Favorite Video Game

"Just Dance 2" What was your favorite moment at the 2011 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards? Taylor Swift In 'Les Miserables': Fans Weigh In

'I hope she can pull it off,' one fan tells MTV News.
By Tami Katzoff

Taylor Swift imagined in the role of Eponine in the Broadway version of "Les Miserables"
Photo: Broadway/ MTV News

Taylor Swift has reportedly been offered the role of Eponine in Tom Hooper's new "Les Miserables" movie, beating out more established actors including Lea Michele, Scarlett Johansson and Evan Rachel Wood. Opinion on the street (Broadway, of course) is mixed. Pennsylvanian Molly Washok, 17, is very pleased with the prospect of seeing Swift as Eponine on the big screen. "I seriously love 'Les Miz.' It's a great Broadway musical," she said. "And I've seen Taylor Swift in shows and I love her so much. I'm a big fan of both, so it makes me excited."

Long Islander Katie Kendrick, 20, is also a fan of Ms. Swift but not as certain of her chops. "I love Taylor Swift — I bought her CDs, I have everything. But I'm not sure she'll be able to hit those notes that Eponine hits in her songs," Kendrick said. If she's cast in "Les Miserables," Swift will join a group of A-list actors that includes Hugh Jackman, Helena Bonham Carter, Russell Crowe and Anne Hathaway. (Amanda Seyfried has reportedly been offered the role of Cosette.) Among these veterans, Kendrick noted, Swift would stand out as the novice. "Taylor Swift has only been in one movie and it was 'Valentine's Day,' where she had a role for 10 minutes, tops. And all these other actors have been in numerous roles. They're very well known in the acting industry while Taylor Swift is known in the singing industry," she said. "I wish her luck, but I'm not sure she'll be able to live up to the expectations that have been set previously." Keely Kwok, 21, from Hamilton, Ontario, is willing to give Swift the benefit of the doubt. "She does have an incredible voice, I'll give her that," Kwok said. "It's a really great musical, so I hope she can pull it off." Twenty-one-year-old New Yorker Julia Menn was less diplomatic in her assessment of Swift's credentials. "There are so many better people to play that part," Menn said. "I'd prefer Evan Rachel Wood, actually. I think she'd be fantastic." So would Menn see a Wood-less "Les Miserables" when it hits theaters this December? "Well, since Hugh Jackman's in it, yes, I would." For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com.

Miley Cyrus' Parents Drop Divorce

Billy Ray Cyrus announces on 'The View' that he and Tish have decided to work things out.

After announcing their split last year Billy Ray Cyrus now says that he and his wife of 17 years, Tish, have decided to reconcile. "I dropped the divorce," Miley Cyrus' dad told the hosts of "The View" during a pre-taped appearance on the show airing Friday, according to USA Today. "I wanted to put my family back together." Cyrus, who appeared on the show to promote his new album, I'm an American, out in June, said he and his family are working out their problems. "Communication I think is one of the biggest problems that we as human beings have in this whole world," he said. "And I think for the first time me and my entire family are finally communicating with each other in a way that, it's been quite some time ... and to answer your question, things are really the best they've ever been." Cyrus also seemed to retract the statements he made in a GQ interview, in which he said that his and Miley's hit Disney series "Hannah Montana" "destroyed" their family. "I feel like I kind of got my Miley back in a way," he said. "I feel like we are the daddy and the daughter that we were before 'Hannah Montana' happened. I love 'Hannah Montana.' I love Disney. That didn't tear my family apart." The country singer did, however, say that fame had something to do with the family's troubles. "Now fame, fame is a different animal, you've got to be careful with that thing because it can ... all things considered, hey, it's all good."

U2 didn't even release an album in 2011, but that didn't stop them from raking in plenty of cash. The iconic Irish quartet topped Pollstar's list of the year's most profitable tours, as their massive 360 Tour moved an impressive 2.4 million tickets worldwide, grossing more than $230 million globally. Their North American dates — which were postponed (and subsequently rescheduled) last year as Bono recovered from back surgery — made $156 million, good enough to give them the highest-grossing tour on this continent, too.

Taylor Swift had 2011's second most-profitable North American tour, as her expansive Speak Now jaunt racked up $97.7 million at the box office. Swift's country contemporary Kenny Chesney came in at #3, bringing in nearly $85 million in ticket sales, followed by Lady Gaga, who, despite wrapping up the North American leg of her Monster Ball Tour in April, still managed to bring in $63.7 million at the box office. Bon Jovi rounds out Pollstar's top five, grossing more than $57 million. Kanye West and Jay-Z's Throne tour ($48 million), Lil Wayne's "I Am Still Music" trek ($44 million), Britney Spears ($38 million) and Katy Perry ($28 million) also made the Top 25 in North America. British boy band Take That's reunion tour came in second to U2's 360 trek based on worldwide receipts, making $224 million. Bon Jovi grossed nearly $150 million worldwide, good enough for third, with tours by Swift ($104 million worldwide) and Roger Waters ($103 million) rounding out the top five. Also making Pollstar's worldwide list were Rihanna, the Foo Fighters, Justin Bieber, Usher and the Kings of Leon. Did you attend any of the highest-grossing tours in 2011? Justin Bieber Teams Up With will.i.am For Believe

Bieber tweets that he hit the studio with the Black Eyed Peas rapper for his 2012 album.

He's already teased that Drake and Kanye West may make appearances on his next album, and on Thursday, Justin Bieber confirmed that another music industry heavyweight, will.i.am, will be assisting him on Believe. Letting his fans know on Twitter that he's "gonna make that," the Black Eyed Peas frontman hyped up the collaboration further when he added, "let's make a hit tomorrow!! #collab. 'I gotta feeling this song is ganne be bigger than huge' #willpower." The news comes as Bieber is deep in the studio working on his highly anticipated 2012 release. The team-up should make for an interesting track for the teen star. With Bieber hoping to recapture some of that Justin Timberlake/Timbaland magic from Timberlake's Future Sex/Love Sounds, will.i.am could bring some of that frenetic pop energy to Bieber's own work.

Last year, will made headlines when he worked with Britney Spears on her Femme Fatale song "Big Fat Bass." Earlier this week, Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, teased that what he's heard of Believe has been "ridiculous." Bieber will turn 18 in March, and his team is hoping to bridge the gap between the boy we met on "Baby" and the man he's growing up to be. "The only conversation we've had about Justin's album that we're about to do is it's really important that it's the proper transition, because we've seen him [with] 'Baby,' now we're watching him grow up," Bieber's longtime vocal producer, Kuk Harrell, told MTV News in November. "And we can't just throw him into the adult game right away. It has to be the proper transition. Justin Bieber Fans Prepping Charity Single In His Honor

President/CEO of Together We Rise talks to MTV News about song, slated for March release.
By Jocelyn Vena

Justin Bieber's fans are working to give back the same way the pop star readily does. Several of Bieber's biggest fan groups, as well as the nonprofit Together We Rise and Brush Buddies (the makers behind the singing Bieber toothbrush), have all teamed up to work on a charity single. "They're all working on pieces of the video and the lyrics. Right now, they're putting together videos and thank-you's.' We're working on the back end," Danny Mendoza, President/CEO of Together We Rise, which focuses on helping foster children in the U.S, told MTV News about the project.

"It started with a young lady named Vivian, she runs the Justin Crew fan club and she approached it on Twitter. She approached it and she had a lot of fan support," he continued. "She took it upon herself to take a leadership role, and then she contacted me because she needed some guidance. We just decided we'll help you do it. Justin Bieber had tweeted about us in the past and helped us get some recognition, so it was a thank-you to him as well. Proceeds from the song will go toward Bieber's Believe charity drive. It will drop in March, just in time for his 18th birthday on March 1. "I'm almost 100 percent positive that they know," Mendoza said of Bieber's camp's knowledge of the project. "Justin Bieber inspired a lot of young people to give back. It's a thank-you for helping us and we want to give back in your honor." Bieber is certainly not a newbie to the world of charity. Mendoza said that having a pop star like Bieber being so socially conscious has been incredible for the charities he helps bring attention to. "He definitely has the right people around him ... They made it a priority that giving back is more. I think his relationship with [his manager Scooter Braun's brother] Adam Braun and his charity [Pencils of Promise], he was able to see hands on a lot of it." After Bieber tweeted this week about the Trillium Gift of Life Network, the Ontario-based organ donation network has seen registrations skyrocket to more than 1,200 people, four times the amount the network usually receives. What charity do you want Bieber to promote? Leave your comment below.

Will Florida Laws Keep Young Voters From Primary?

MTV News takes a closer look at legislation passed last year in the state that has voter-registration groups up in arms.
By Gil Kaufman

TAMPA, Florida — It's a teenage rite of passage up there with learning to drive and attending prom: your first time voting. But according to some longtime voter-registration organizations, that right could be threatened this year in a number of states due to new laws that make signing up new voters more difficult.

The issue has come into sharp relief this week in Florida, which holds its presidential primary Tuesday. A bill passed last year in the state includes a number of new rules for how civic organizations can register new voters, as well as ones that reduce the number of early voting days from 14 to eight and prohibit early voting on the Sunday before an election.

The part of the new law that has troubled groups such as Rock the Vote and the League of Women Voters the most, though, is the one that forces such third-party organizations to submit voter-registration applications within 48 hours of receiving them, instead of the 10 days as provided by the pervious law. These groups — which are among several who have suspended their voter-registration drives in Florida this year because of a lawsuit over the changes — say the fines and threats of potential civil lawsuits have put a chill on their get-out-the-vote efforts.

"We are outraged at these new laws that will prevent opportunities for youth civic participation," Heather Smith, president of Rock the Vote, said in a statement announcing the lawsuit in early December. Attorneys for the groups claim Florida's new voter laws violate the U.S. Constitution and federal laws by violating their constitutionally protected rights of speech and association and failing to give individuals and groups fair notice of how to comply with the laws' "confusing and unclear mandates." They also argue that the laws breach the 1993 National Voter Registration Act, a federal law designed in part to "encourage community-based voter-registration activity."

Supporters of the law say it will save money by eliminating extra voting days and is a bulwark against voter fraud, which its supporters argue is a constant threat to the democratic process.

Some Democrats, however, have accused Republicans — Florida is among the half-dozen states with GOP-led legislatures that passed new voting laws last year — of using the provisions to disenfranchise some traditionally key Democratic voting blocs, including racial minorities, the poor, the young and elderly voters.

There were 31 cases of voter fraud referred to Florida authorities between January 2008 and 2011, and only two resulted in arrests out of the 8.1 million votes cast in the 2008 election.

A hearing was held in Tampa, Florida, on Friday, led by U.S. Senators Bill Nelson of Florida and Dick Durbin of Illinois, in which the men described the bill as a "voter suppression act" and vowed to have the courts address what Durbin sees as a violation of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

MTV is on the scene in Florida! Check back for up-to-the-minute coverage of the primaries and stick with PowerOf12.org throughout the 2012 presidential election season.

Justin Bieber 'Rap-Singing' On New Lil Twist Collabo

'Justin killed it,' Twist tells MTV News of 'Wherever You Are.'

It's been a long time coming for Lil Twist. The Young Money rap rookie was supposed to see his debut album Don't Get It Twisted drop in 2011, but after a few false starts, the Dallas MC is looking forward to a March 20 release.

Already, he has dropped a ton of singles and high-powered collaborations with Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes and 2 Chainz. Next up, Justin Bieber. "We're getting ready to drop that record 'Wherever You Are.' Y'all will have that real soon," Lil Twist told MTV News of the high-powered collaboration. "It's a fun record. Justin killed it. He's, like, rap-singing on it; another different sound for Justin." Twist, who built his fanbase thanks to pop-rap joints like "Little Secret" with Bow Wow and "Love Affair," has been developing a harder edge lately. His recently released video for the Busta Rhymes-assisted "Turnt Up" focuses more on the 18-year old's rap bars rather than his penchant for catchy hooks. His Golden Child mixtape, which he dropped in December, also shows a similar growth. But with "Wherever You Are," Twist just promises a good time. "It's gonna be great. It's a cool summer record," Twist told MTV News last August. "It's a party song. Straight for the sun. It's a Miami record." While the record has been in the works for some time, Twist is almost ready to let to go. "Just me and Justin, people been waiting on that," he said of his bond with the Biebs. "That's my brother right there. It's just been a long time coming. Now that we been had the record done, it's time to put it out." Are you anticipating Lil Twist's "Wherever You Are," featuring Justin Bieber? Tell us in the comments!

PARK CITY, Utah — The Sundance Film Festival is no stranger to seeing masses of unexpected celebrities flocking to the snowy hills of Park City, but that didn't stop the surprise appearance of singer/songwriter Taylor Swift from attracting a crowd. The "Back to December" singer hit Sundance on Friday (January 20) to attend the red-carpet premiere of "Ethel," the HBO documentary chronicling the life of Ethel Kennedy. Indeed, a grand total of 23 members of the Kennedy clan were on hand, including the documentary's director Rory, daughter of Ethel.

What exactly prompted Taylor's attendance at the "Ethel" red carpet? According to the musician herself in a recent interview with Vogue, Taylor had an encounter with the 83-year-old Ethel some weeks ago. Describing the woman as "effervescent," Taylor said the meeting with the wife of the late Robert Kennedy left her feeling "starstruck" for the first time in her life. "The only time in my life I have ever been starstruck was meeting Caroline and Ethel Kennedy," she told the magazine. "I got to spend the afternoon with Ethel a couple of weeks ago. She is one of my favorites, because you look back at the pictures of her and Bobby, and they always look like they are having the most fun out of everybody. You know, 11 kids, all these exotic animals on their property. I've read a lot about them." Taylor wasn't the only non-Kennedy who showed up to the "Ethel" red carpet. Sundance founder and legendary actor Robert Redford also hit the scene to show his appreciation and admiration for the project — and to pose for a few photos with Swift. The 2012 Sundance Film Festival is officially under way, and the MTV Movies team is on the ground reporting on the hottest stars and the movies everyone will be talking about in the year to come. 'Me and you got a lot of things we got to talk about face-to-face,' 2 Chainz tells MTV News' Sway Calloway.

2 Chainz is riding around and getting it and soon he will have even more money to spend. Word is that the Atlanta rap standout is close to signing a new record contract, and on Wednesday he will stop by "RapFix Live" to announce his new deal.

"I think I'm gonna come sit on the sofa Wednesday. Me and you got a lot of things we got to talk about face-to-face," 2 Chainz told Sway when he Skyped into last week's episode of "RapFix Live."

"It should be a good day Wednesday. I'm coming up to New York and have a few finalized meetings also," he added.

On Monday (January 30), Chainz, who got his start as Tity Boi in the rap duo Playaz Circle, will be performing his first major New York concert at SOB's. Over the past year, 2 Chainz has reinvented himself as a solo artist and taken a hold on rap's underground thanks to catchy anthems like his latest single "Spend It." After his NYC concert, the "Duffle Bag Boy" rapper will be running around the city tying up loose ends before he sits with Sway on Wednesday. By that time he will be ready to announce his new recording home exclusively on "RapFix Live."

"Might as well let the cat out the bag," he said.

Mac Miller is another of rap's most exciting newcomers, and MTV News recently went back to the 'Burgh with the "Donald Trump" rapper when he performed a pair of homecoming shows in December. All week long, MTV News will be spotlighting Pittsburgh's growing hip-hop scene with exclusive interviews and video content. On Wednesday, fans can tune in to watch backstage and concert footage from Mac's Pittsburgh show. You don't want to miss it!

Catch 2 Chainz and Mac Miller on "RapFix Live" Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com, and be sure to join the Twitter conversation using the hashtag #RapFixLive. Send your questions for the artists to @MTVRapFix!
